VACANCY FOR A COUNCILLOR

PUBLIC NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN

that a casual vacancy has occurred in the office of Councillor

for Buildwas Parish Council, following a member of the council ceasing to hold office as a result of non-attendance at council meetings in excess of 6 months.

Rule 5(2) of The Local Elections (Parishes and Communities) (England and Wales) Rules, 2006 now applies.

In the case of a casual vacancy occurring in the office of councillor within six months before the day on which that councillor would regularly have retired, the council, may, as soon as practicable after the expiry of the period of fourteen days, calculated in accordance with the rules*, co-opt a person to fill the vacancy.

The fourteen-day period ends on 3rd January 2023
